Moultrie Game Spy 4.0 Megapixel Trail Camera

Moultrie continues the Game Spy line of cameras with an easy to use 4 megapixel version.  The first thing that hunter will notice is the very attractive price tag.  This game camera is typically priced around the 100 dollar mark.  The flash has been made a little stronger and now reaches out to the 45ft mark.  The auto-flash feature has also been revamped so that the flash only fires under low light conditions.  The laser aim aids in setting up the camera over a well used deer trail.  Setting the game camera over a trail should not be a problem with the 1 second reaction time.   Each image that the camera captures will be marked with date, time, and location.  Requires six D-cell batteries (not included) for up to 60 days of battery life. Also can be used with rechargeable D-cell batteries. Just plug the 6-volt Solar Panel Deluxe (sold separately) into the external power port to keep the batteries continuously charged.

After having used one of my partners 3 cameras I told my kids to put one on my Xmas list.

I find it to be a really good camera for the working man's wallet and the only reservations I have about it is the battery life with regular batteries. I question if they should have stayed with the old 'square' lantern type battery earlier models were using. I'm thinking about going with the rechargeable ones and the solar panel which should eliminate the need for replacement batteries all together.

I've seen some of the the other higher $$ cameras and am happy with the performance of this one.

the trigger speed is so slow that an animal within 5 yards of the camera will pass it and be out of the field of view before the camera takes the picture. At 15 yards, the animal will be on the very edge of the field of view. I don't how they can offer a camera like this, you will not get a decent picture of the target.

I have been using trail cameras for about 8 years now. This camera is the best one I have used for the money. This is my first digital.I love being able to pop the chip out,pop another one in and go to the house and see what I have got.I have not run into anything on camera that is worth complaining about. Thanks for a very good, affordable product.

I have purchased two of these D40's. They are great! I just can't see spending $350+ on a cuddeback, when I could have 3 d40's. Easy to set up, awesome pictures, and at very reasonable price. Digital is definately the way to go, I started with the 35 mm and now I have moved up to digital. I'm getting around 500 pics in 10 days, at 8 dollars a roll for 35 mm film that would be over $150 just to develop the pictures. Very satisfied, would like to try the infrared 6.0!!!
