Cuddeback No Flash Trail Camera

The Cuddeback NO Flash Game Camera was engineered to take amazing pictures during the day and also at night.  To operate flawlessly 24/7 several new features had to be added to the already very capable Cuddeback game camera.  To capture the night time photos the camera switches from its normal 3 megapixel resolution over to 1.3 megapixels with infrared flash.  This flash is basically invisible to the game and will not spook the animals.  Even though the flash is not noticeable it has a range of up to 30 feet.  The user has complete control over the PIR sensitivity and also has many different photo options.  For video clips you can choose between 10 to 60 second video clips and for still images you can delay them between 1 minute to 1 hour.   Video clips are not just limited to the daylight hours anymore, the Cuddeback No Flash trail camera will continue to record video clips even at night.  Trigger speeds are still some of the fastest on the market with Cuddeback’s Instant Trigger Technology.  Knowing thieves will also be deterred knowing that the owner of the camera has embedded their name and phone number into each picture thanks to Theftstop Plus Technology.  You can also expect to receive over 6 months of service and 1000 pictures from one set of batteries under optimum conditions.

Trigger speed, not as fast as they claim, but it is quick. Picture quality, daytime is excellent, night time pics are fair, on the later models, I understand the shutter time has been reduced, therefore, reducing blur. Battery life, I don't use their battery compartment, who ever designed this, should be working a drive thru window, I voided my warranty, took camera apart, and soldered extension wires in to allow me to use an external rechargable feeder type battery, 6 months out of a single charge in any temperature, is not a problem. Flash range, is ok, but my personal experience in two states proves that the infrared flash is nearly as bad as the traditional flash for spooking deer. I made some homemade mounts to allow me to mount my cams at 10' to 12' high, to get the flash out of their direct line of sight. The high mount paid immediate dividends, more and multiple pics of the same deer. I have 100's of infrared pics showing the deer freaking out and bolting 2 counties away when camera is mounted eye level to the deer. Anyone, including deer, can see the infrared source, but not the area it illuminates. Ease of use, I've been on the Cuddeback wagon since day one, their programming really hasn't changed much. Reliability, use an external battery, and silicone the front outer cover, although, it will still fog up in bad weather. Case quality, again, the designer needs to be working a drive thru window. Security, electronics excellent, secure mounting, false. Customer service, O.K.

I bought this camera because I thought that Cuddeback was the best trailcam out there. Well, this is what I have found. While camera is attached to the tree, the batteries are nearly impossible to replace. The flash is worthless over 10'. Approx. 25% of the time the nighttime pictures are blurry. The infrared picture quality is not good. When I called Cuddeback to see if there was something that could be done, all they wanted me to do was send it to them with $100 and they would take care of it. The camera is only a year old. You would think that they would take care of their customers better than that. I will never buy another Cuddeback.

This company actually let me trade in an older model of their camera and gave me a good discount. The biggest buck I ever had a pic of must have been spooked by the flash of the old camera, that's why I chose the no flash. So far, the camera has worked great. Sure saves time scouting. I scouted a new area where I just knew there were big bucks the camera told me otherwise after three days of taking pictures of racoons using the trail I had set up on. Excellent product.

case is weak & the main troble i see is battery spring not strong, it is to weak and loses contact in and out, that causes a host (problems) the case causes some of it. if these were fixed and maybe a little more waterprof. then it would be as good as you would want.

I have 3 of the newer cuddebacks, 1 of which is the no flash. I personally found this camera to take excellent pictures at night given its range and ir capability.I use a 512 flash card and was initially getting a tremendous number of daytime pics of nothing. It was acting like it was set on event mode. Not exactly happy but could live with it. A bear attack sent it back for repair. This is where I think their customer service is great. Total rebuild, case and circuit board for $100.00. Now it with the newer updates it works better than ever including night pics. They rebuilt and had it back to me in 10 days.

"I have had this camera since 07/06. The camera continually fogs up on the inside and water gets inside the unit. The infrared photos and video are not very clear. The day light photos are good quality. The same quality you would find in a much cheaper camera. I contacted Cuddeback to inquire about the fogging of the camera and was advised, "That can happen." I asked about the water coming out of the camera when I open it up to switch cards and was advised there MAY be a problem and I could send it in for possible repair. I sent the camera back, they did a poor job of repair, and it still fogs up during rainy weather. I had to include a check for $10.00 shipping. I sent it for repairs, they did a poor job of the repairs. The purchase of this camera set me back $400.00. That is a lot of money to me, but I do not mind paying that for good equipment. This was not the case in this situation. It's my opinion, don’t buy this camera. It is NOT good quality and it is NOT worth the money. I also have had deer spooked at night while taking 10 second video clips while in the infrared mode than I ever had with a trail camera with a flash."

The cuddeback has a great trigger speed and outstanding battery life. The only fault I see with this product is its ability to take nighttime pictures as far as the trigger sensor senes pictures. I have alot of night time pictures to were you cant make out the deeer because its to far away standing in the dark.

Cuddeback fails to mention in any advertisement or info such as above that all digital cameras used to view pictures in the field are not compatible with the No Flash. They also don't disclose that Windows XP in needed for videos. Their support said just take the trail camera home and view on the TV or take the video card to Wal mart and have pictures printed. This is not what we want to do during rut. Very disappointed with Cuddeback response.

This camera has soo many issues I dont know where to start. Trigger time is slow(if it triggers at all). Night pictures are very blurry, in most cases you are unable to count points on a buck. Night video is worthless, the IR isnt bright enough to make an image past about 10ft. The case leaks and holds water inside of the camera. The case is also very flimsy and cant be screwed onto the tree tight or the batteries will fall out(which will require the camera to be reprogramed again, and again and again....)
Compared to another camera that I set up next to it the Cuddeback took 60 pictures on 1 minute delay when the (different brand)other one took 550 set on 1 minute delay.
This camera is comparable to some other cameras on the market that are in the $150-$200 range.
Grade = D+

Picture quality at night is very poor even with flash set on "high". Videos at night turn out to be totally black showing no image at all.

Service dept. explains it away by saying this camera has a 15 foot limit at night. I can't even see the ground on the night time videos. I believe the "no flash", infrared flash needs further development. The above experience was with the battery level showing "3" with temperature no lower than low to middle 30's.

The trigger speed on the cuddeback no flash is not nearly as quick as they claim. I have not timed it but I would say it is over 2 seconds. The pictures are pretty good quality but the night time pictures could be better. It seems that the flash range is not that great.
