Cuddeback has always been known as having fast trigger speeds and the new Cuddeback Attack IR is no exception. The manufacturer promises 1/4 second trigger speed which is fast enough to catch a deer running at 20 fps.

Centered Subject Technology is also another cool feature of the Cuddeback Attack. So basically you get less images of deer entering or leaving the viewing area. It triggers the camera when the deer is closest to the center of the detection area. You can also expect to get a full season of pictures from one set of batteries. Setup is fairly simple with a single rotary knob and two push buttons.

A feature I really like is the ability to copy pictures from the camera to a usb memory stick. This enables the hunter to leave the camera on the tree and retrieve the pictures with minimal disturbance and also not have to handle the small SD cards. It seems every year I loose at lease one SD card. Speaking of SD card, the Cuddeback Attack comes with 60MB of built in memory so a memory card is not needed. That is another $20 of savings.

Cuddeback IR Features and Specs Features:

  • Uses 36 high-power, no-spook infrared LEDs to take correctly exposed images
  • 5.0 MP images day or night
  • 30-second videos
  • Centered Subject Technology™
  • Faster trigger speed (1/4 second)
  • 60' range
  • Super Simple Set-Up™
  • Eight delay options (from 15 seconds to 30 minutes)
  • Guard Duty time lapse mode
  • No Card Mode in case you forget to install an SD card
  • Takes up to 50,000 images on one set of four D batteries

For the hunters that take scouting cameras to the next level, the Cuddeback Attack provides moon and sun information including phase and all rise and set times. This will enable you to fine tune the your scouting and pattern the mature bucks.

The camera is a little noisy, almost like the Truth Cams but it doesn’t seem to bother the deer. I had read a lot of reviews about bad battery life but I haven’t seen any problems. Overall the pictures are good and I am happy with the Cuddeback Attack IR.

“I personally would have never purchased a Cuddeback product. I have used Stealth Cam products for years and never had the first problem, no reason to change.

My Wife and Daughter purchased the new Attack IR for as a Father’s Day gift, they had no clue which trail camera to buy, they only had to watch the Outdoor Channel for a short period before viewing one of the two or three commercials featuring this camera which is endorsed by numerous outdoor television celebrities.

After getting the camera for Fathers Day I set the Cuddeback in a location where I had kept the same Stealth Cam for over 5 years. The problems I had included: 1) severe IR glare 2) random black photos at night with no IR illumination 3) blurry night and day photots 4) poor color quality daytime pictures, looked almost black and white 5) less than 600 pictures ran the batteries down to 60% 6) after recieving a firmware update from Cuddeback all of these problems persisted with one exception, the random black night time photos turned into 100% black night time photos, the unit would not take an IR illuminated night time picture at all. There were other things I did not like, the video on-off switch was poor design and the way the camera mounted to the tree made the camera extrememly obvious and vunerable.

Its not so much the poor performance that bothers me, its the overwhelming advertising campaign Cuddeback propogates on cable television with the numerous outdoor celebrity endorsers. Celebrities who are being paid to give glowing endorsements for products that obviously fall way short of the claims they are making.

My Wife and Daughter were both extremely dissapointed that the camera they bought as a Fathers Day gift was such a lemon, They had no knowledge of these products and relied 100% on the commercials they saw on TV. All you need to do is read other reviews here on BassPro or at other outdoor retailers like Cabelas to make up your own mind that you do not want to buy this product.”

I too recently tried out the Cuddeback Attack IR and found the same problems as you did. The most frustrating issue I had with it was the random black nighttime photos. Extremely dissapointing camera. I would say about 1/5 of the nighttime photos are basically black with a bareley visible deer outline in the picture.

Same as last two above, very disappointed. Have over 100 pictures of glowing eyes at night. First couple days it took a couple at night now it is all black on every one. I run Bushnells for my other two cameras and have not had disappointment like this.

I too recently got one of the new Cuddeback Attack IR and love it. I am going to sell all my other trail cams. I have 4 cuddebacks and 4 wildgame. The Battery life is great i use the Ralvac batteries, the quality of the batteries you use are a big deal.

Bought 3 of them and all take all black pictures at night. Would not recommend them to anyone not to mention horrible customer service. Dont be fooled by their advertising on the outdoor channel. I have bought 60 dollar cameras that work better. Overall Poor Design and they dont work! It says 3 years in the making. They must have not tested them out in the field. Very disapointed. Will never buy their products again!

I bought the cuddleback Capture for the trigger speed after realizing my Stealth rogue IR was slow. I liked the Stealth if set at a feeding area. The cuddleback Capture wouldnt do a thing for me, couldnt get pictures to show up on sd card on computer. got fed up fiddling with it, returned to store but they offered to exchange to a newer cuddleback Attack Ir and I agreed to it. I was really excited to get this one knowing I will never see the butt of a deer. Unfortunately I had the same problem, couldnt get to get pictures on the sd card, The most stupid design was the video switch, its under a very thick gellish rubber cover, you cannot tell if its in the on or off mode. I had to use a key to slide the switch and you can feel the clicking … Fed up, returned it completely. Very Very disappointed. I wanted the FASTEST trigger camera but Not worth spending 200 dollars over something that will not do a piece of thing…. Looking at other cuddleback reviews, I find Im not the only one. I can rate on the last 5 due to no pictures..

It is a piece of junk right out of the box. I have a call into cuddeback management now. I wonder how long I will have to wait. I wish I would have read these reviews before I got this one. I traded my old no flash in right at cuddiebacks in Depere Wis. That one worked great compared to this one. The center control knob automatically goes to 30 second arm mode and does a countdown no mater where you set it, time, date, year, it just goes to arm. I could have bought 3 cheaper and better cameras instead of this one.

My father had a capture the the bear thought was food. After sending it back to Cuddyback they stated that it could not be fixed and offered to sell him a new attack IR for $150.00. When they sent it it went straight to the woods. After a week there there were very few pictures on it. I have a Remington Gohst. We set both cameras up at 30 feet from the focus point. The following week the Remington took 83 pictures of several different game. The cuddybcak took 12!! Talked to customer service severaltimes ( after waiting an avg of 30 min each time to get some one on the phone) they keep giving us different answers. Every thing from its not to take pictures of same game ( we have pictures of coons, fishers and cats ) to the outside air temp was to close to the temp of the animals that were there. They still have not done anything to fix the problem. WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY!! Will never EVERY buy any cuddyback product again.

Easy to set up and great pictures. I don’t believe half or more of these reviews, some of which I see copied/pasted elsewhere as well.
