I'm using a Moultrie I 60 and a Moultrie D 40 on black and grizzly bears here in Alaska. The bears pay no attention to the less expensive, D 40's conventional flash but, in nearly every night picture taken with the i 60, the bears are staring right at the camera. The red glow from the ir flash seems to bother bears more than a conventional white flash. I don't know why?

I recently purchased two Moultrie cameras, an I 60 and a D 40. Both work well, are easy to use and have taken great day and night pictures of Alaska grizzly and black bears. But I'm not sure it's worth spending $300 for the i 60 when the D 40 seems to work just as well.
Bears seemed to pay no attention to the D 40's flash where as they definately were alerted to the i 60's ir red glow or, perhaps the loud shutter click.
In many of the night pix taken with the i 60, bears are staring into the camera, not so with the D 40.
