Camtrakker Digital 6.0 Game Camera

The Camtrakker Digital 6.0 is built with a Sony Cybershot DSC-W30 digital camera.  This trail camera will produce amazing sharp 6 megapixel images thanks to the Sony camera.  This camera may also be removed from the case and used around your home.  The PIR detects motion in heat and then activates the camera.  There is an external LED that will flash red when the PIR is tripped.  This light is a huge help when setting up the game camera.  This same light will provide a solid green light that indicates the unit is on and ready to take pictures.  This Camtrakker comes with 2 rechargeable nickel metal hydride that power the strobe flash and the camera.  The strobe flash will work great out to distances of 45 feet.  Another plus with the unit is an external power switch.  At this time not many game cameras being built with an external switch and this is a huge bonus when setting up the unit.

I purchased one of the original Cam Trakker Digital Cameras in August 2003. This is by far the best scouting camera on the market.I keep my cameras in the woods from August through Janruary. Literally, I never take them off of a tree unless I'm moving them to another spot. They have never been wet on the inside, unless I opened it in the rain. It is very weather resistant. The unit is equiped with two rechargeable batteries - one for the camera/motion detector and one for the strobe falsh. I purchased an extra set of batteries so that I can just swap them out in the field. That way I don't have to bring my unit out of the woods during hunting season to charge the batteries. The batteries will last about 3 weeks before needing a charge. The strobe flash is awesome! I can get images out to 25-30yrds at night! I get lots of pictures of the same deer just minutes apart, thus I know the flash is not bothering the deer. I have also witnessed the flash while hunting - the deer will jump, but that's it. Over feed, a couple of flashes and they totally ignore it. The unit I bought came with a 16mb xD memory card. I purchased a second card so that I could just swap them in the field without having to remove the camera. The newer unit use an upgraded Sony Camera with a different type of memory card. A tip on memory cards - the larger the card, the longer the delay. With the 16mb card, I can get 76 high quality photos with no more than about a 2.5 second delay. I check my cameras each week, thus 76 images is plenty. A great feature of the Cam Trakker set up is that it uses a real camera. Therefor, you can view the pictures while in the woods. Matter of fact, one afternoon I was planning on hunting a different location than where my camera was located, but when I went to check my camera before going to the other location, the first few pictures where loaded with big bucks. I sat that stand that evening and arrowed a great 10 point buck. Try that with a camera that does not offer in the field viewing. I also purchased a card reader that plugs into the usb on my note-book computer. Thus,I just go back to my truck and view the pictures before making a decision on where to hunt. Several of my hunting collegues have purchased less expensive units. They do not take near the quality of pictures as the Cam Trakker and are far less reliable. I also have a 35mm Cam Trakker that I purchased in 1995. I'm still using it today! How's that for quality! I highly recommend the Cam Trakker brand over all others. I know my unit uses a different camera, but the basic function of the unit is the same. I would expect the quality of the newer units to be even better that what I currently have. Digital is the only way to go. Film units are cheaper, but you will spend more money on film, developing and gas to find a one hour photo than it is worth. Buy a Digital Cam Trakker!
